One of the consistent themes of the Old Testament is the call to hospitality and the importance of welcoming the stranger. Moses teaches the Israelites the following about the essence of the Law: “For the Lord your God is God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who is not partial and takes no bribe, who executes justice for the orphan and the widow, and who loves the strangers, providing them food and clothing. You shall also love the stranger, for you were strangers in the land of Egypt” (Deuteronomy 10:17-19).
This Sunday, Rev. Christopher Whiteman, Chaplain of Groton School, will offer a reflection on this scripture passage. Local musicians Elton Kam and Cheryl Cochran will play two stirring sacred songs. Ginny Henderson will accompany us on the organ as we join our voices in singing classic hymns. Join us for worship, wisdom, and song!
